BIOMEDICAL CHEMISTRY MAJOR
The degree program in BIOMEDICAL CHEMISTRY, which has a required minor in biology, is designed to provide a combination of studies in the biological sciences and chemistry for those students who: (1) plan to enter a professional school of medicine, dentistry, or veterinary medicine (2) plan to pursue a career in clinical or medicinal chemistry (3) plan to work in a biological or medical industry.
CHEMISTRY DEGREE MAJOR
The degree program in CHEMISTRY is designed to provide: (1) a working knowledge of chemical concepts (2) a rigorous, medically oriented program (3) state of the art training for graduate school or immediate employment (4) opportunity to broaden their skills by learning the concepts of chemistry (5) opportunities to work in chemical companies and industrial research.
SCIENCE EDUCATION MAJOR
This program meets the State of Oklahoma's specific requirements for certification in middle-level science, earth science, physical science, chemistry, biology, and physics. This department works in cooperation with the ORU School of Education; therefore, students interested in this major should consult the School of Education as well as the education advisor in this department. Students may earn licensure in a second subject/content area. The Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation requires the OSAT/OPTE test(s) be passed in order to obtain a license in an additional subject/content area. Students interested in completing course work toward additional licensing should consult the subject area advisor.
